<p>This book is about ancient religions of the past and how they can affect modern life today, and the future. Moses led the ancient Israelites towards the 'Promised Land', but some of his laws contradicted the 10 Commandments, and some condoned slavery and the abuse of women. Operating under these laws the Israelites went on conquests, committing mass murder, taking other peoples' land, murdering men, women, and children, taking slaves and trading them, slaughtering animals and sprinkling their blood around an altar. They plundered, devalued women and raped those they considered spoils of war. Moses was considered to be a great prophet and it would seem his laws formed the basis for many of the ideas found in the Quran. However, the question remains, "Should these things be removed from modern religious books of teaching, such as the Bible, as they can be used in the development of extremist ideologies and the indoctrination of young people into extremism?". Do we need to make a fundamental change to religion so it might herald in a new and more benign world, that leaves behind the barbarism of the past?</p>
